Obituary of Jane B. Rauch

Please share a memory of Jane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nassau- It is with profound sadness that we say Jane B. Rauch, in her 100th year, entered into eternal rest on October 24, 2023, after a brief illness. She was the eldest daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Kelly Becker. Jane was born in Albany, NY on July 10, 1924 and spent her time happily growing up with her siblings. Jane married the love of her life, Martin E. Rauch on May 10, 1946, and they were devoted to each other for 63 years of marriage before his passing. She is survived by her eight children, Judith (Jack) Schmitz, Carol McNicholas, Gail (Jacob) Coons, Martin E. (Diane) Rauch, Jr., Theresa (Ronald) Caputo, Kurt (Jill) Rauch, Glenn (Paula) Rauch, and Eric (Beverly) Rauch. She is also survived by, and was wonderful to, her cherished and beloved 30 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren (1 on the way), 4 (2 more on the way) great great grandchildren, her sister Rosemary Smead, sister in law Marlene (Rick) Everleth, brother in law Bruce Rauch and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her spouse and parents Jane was predeceased by her brothers James Becker, Lawrence Becker, Jacob Becker III, and sister Lois Campanella. Jane worked briefly as a teller at Albany Savings Bank until the birth of her first child and then devoted herself to being a homemaker and eventually babysitter extraordinaire for what seemed most of the Village of Nassau for many years, until Martin retired. Jane was a loving person who was deeply devoted to caring for her family and any baby that came her way. Her greatest pride was her family, and nothing filled her with more joy than being surrounded by them. Jane’s faith was an important part of her life, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Nassau, since her move to Nassau in 1950. One of Jane's favorite hobbies was crochet and many family members are in receipt of her intricate work. In her later years, as her sight failed, she turned to puzzles which entertained her and any of her visitors. Her family greatly admired that she lived her life with passionate beliefs and strength. She was strong in life, strong in love, strong in faith, and strong till the end.
