Nassau- Susan M. Keegan, 73, of Nassau, NY died peacefully at home following an extended illness on November 2, 2023.  A long time resident of Nassau (1982-2023), she was born in Minneapolis, to Robert F. Keegan and Margaret Stacy Wash, on July 28, 1950.  Susan was very athletic, she served as a lifeguard at Lake Waccabuc, in the summers during high school. She was a graduate of Wheaton College (1973) and worked as a lab technician at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center before working as a clinical research assistant for several companies including Parexel and PPD (Product Production Development).  She was a deacon at the New Baltimore Reformed Church for many years, served on the board at the Nassau Free Library and was an active member at Honest Weight Food Co-op.  Post retirement, her unbounded energy was directed toward working at Albany Institute of History & Art Museum and Berkshire Botanical Garden. Akin to that, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors enhancing her yard and home.

Susan will be remembered for her independent spirit, her go to attitude on all projects, her love of contra dancing, kayaking, gardening and pot luck dinners.

She is survived by a brother; Robert S. Keegan, sister; Carrie K Carrizosa, nephews; Ruben Carrizosa Jr, Michael Keegan, Jonathan Keegan, and nieces; Julia Carrizosa and Shira Martorana.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Nassau Free Library, 18 Church St., PO Box 436, Nassau, NY 12123.
