Obituary of Theodore A. Devlin

Theodore A. Devlin, 83, passed away on Nov. 26th at home.  Born in Pownal VT he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Mabel Devlin.  Teddy had been a Nassau resident since 1941 and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1953 to 1956.  He was a plumber by trade and had worked on houses throughout the state.  Teddy and his late wife Anne ran the former Homestead Restaurant in Nassau many years.  He was a life member of the Chandler-Young VFW Post 8162, member of the Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530, member of the National City American Post #255 in San Diego CA and past Grand Marshall of the Nassau Memorial Day Parade.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Anne M. Devlin; siblings Henry, Joe and Patrick Devlin, Barbara Sherwood, Helen Davis, Mary Germano and Priscilla Visconti.  He is survived by his son Jay P. (Beth) Devlin of Nassau; brother, Vincent J. Devlin of Stephentown; sister, Agnes Carpenter of Mims FL as well as several nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. in Nassau on Thursday from 4-8PM.  A wake service by the Chandler-Young VFW Post will be held at 8:00PM to conclude the calling hours.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.  The family would like to thank Karen and Bruce Casey, Lane VanDeusen, Robert and Mary Jo VanDeusen and family, Dr. Carol Curan, Tony Tafur,  Ken Sherman, Lyle and Eve Norton, Community Hospice and Landmark Healthcare for their care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ted's memory to the Nassau Hose Co. No. 1 P.O. Box 42, Nassau, NY 12123 or to the Nassau Ambulance, P.O. Box 757, Nassau NY 12123.
