Rivers, Joan A. NASSAU Joan A. Rivers, 80, of Nassau passed away on Dec. 14, 2018. Joan was born Dec. 11, 1938 in Albany to the late Rose I. Silvia (Pike) and Joseph Silvia. She was a 1956 graduate of Cardinal McCloskey. Joan worked as a bus aide for Questar III for 20 years before her retirement in 2001. She was a life member of the Chandler-Young VFW Post 8162 Ladies Auxiliary, an avid volunteer to organizations within the community, a very big Elvis fan, and an outdoors loving Equine advocate. Joan was predeceased by her husband Harrison Rivers; step-sons, Frankie and Harry Rivers. She is survived by her sons, Harrison H. Rivers Jr., John, Joe and David Parsons; grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews. Joan was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be missed dearly. Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Tuesday at 12:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service from 10-12. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Nassau.
