Willard G. “Bill” Schauble Jr. 87, of Troy passed away at home on January 14, 2021. Born in Albany and raised in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Willard G. and Augusta Schauble. Willard was an Army veteran having served during the Korean war and was a former Supervisor with the New York Telephone Company. Prior to moving to Troy he resided on Burden Lake for many years. He was a past president and commissioner of the Averill Park-Sand Lake Fire Company, life member of the Chandler Young VFW Post 8162 in Nassau and member of the Averill Park American Legion Post 1012. Bill enjoyed spending his summers in Lake George where he earned the nickname “walking willie” as people would see him walking to and from his favorite places. He was predeceased by his sister Winifred Redden. Bill is survived by his sons, William P. (Ronda) Schauble and Randall V. (Cassondra) Schauble; grandchildren, Cassondra E. Schauble and Corey R. Schauble. He is also survived by his dear friend Joan Hagy. A graveside service will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Wednesday Jan. 20 at 11:30AM were COVID-19 restrictions of 50 people in attendance will be in place. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Willard are asked to please consider a donation to the Averill Park-Sand Lake Fire Company at 35 Eastern Union Turnpike, Averill Park, NY 12018 or to the Chandler Young VFW Post 8162 P.O. Box 701, Nassau, NY 12123.
