Obituary of Marcia E. Platel

Marcia E. Platel, 82, of Castleton, formerly of Rensselaer passed away on June 15, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Born in Chateaugay, NY she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dora Rivers. Marcia was first and foremost a family woman, she spent most of her time caring for family, enjoying her grand and great grandchildren and planning camping trips, mostly in the Adirondacks where she could gather her family together. She enjoyed going to garage sales, crafting and spending time in Rhode Island and Florida. Marcia was very giving with her time and volunteered at the Doors of Hope and the Breast Cancer Society and was a member of the Red Hat Society. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William J. Platel and her son Dale Lavare (Kim). She is survived by her children, Darrell (Maureen) Lavare, Daryn (Nancy) Lavare and Desiree (Ryan) McCreesh; grandchildren Katie, Kierstyn, Sam, Amber, Jeremy and Jessica Lavare, Nick and Lilly Platel and Billy and Aarika Moak; great grandchildren, Sammy Jr. and Kinsley Lavare, Brycen LaBier, Paxton Hand, Levi Platel and Haylee Moak. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her dog Lucy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25th from 11am to 1pm. Marcia will be laid to rest in St. Mary's cemetery in Nassau at a later date.
