Lawrence E. Schell, 86, lifelong resident of East Schodack passed away at home on March 10, 2023.  Born in Albany he was the son of the late David and Eva (Johnson) Schell. Larry attended the East Schodack School and was a graduate of Columbia High School.  He served in the United States Navy Reserves and was honorably discharged as an Electricians Mate 2nd Class.  Larry was a longtime member of the Nassau Sportsmen’s Club, the Rensselaer Elks Lodge #2073 and the East Schodack Fire Company.  He was self employed as a used car dealer for many years having operated lots in several locations.

Larry enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, traveling in his motorhome and camping on Lake Champlain.  He also enjoyed parties, clambakes and cookouts and liked to be the life of the party.  He was a true animal lover and especially loved the company of his cats. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Sandra Schell; son, Brian Schell (Michael Frazier) of East Schodack and daughter, Dawn Schell of Cobleskill.  He was predeceased by his twin brothers Leonard and Lloyd Schell. 

A funeral service will be held at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau on Tuesday March 21 at 3:00 p.m. Please join us here to view a live stream of the service.  Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service from 1-3 p.m.  Inurnment in Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Larry’s memory to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 or to the East Schodack Fire Company, 3071 NY 150, East Schodack, NY 12063.
