Steven Himmel, of Hudson, NY, passed away peacefully, on Friday, January 22nd, in Albany, NY. He was 83 years young.
Steven is survived by his "beautiful bride of 63 years," Joan, as well as his sisters, Bernice Pugliese, and Elizabeth Pazera , his brother, Ray Himmel and three devoted children: Steven, Scott and Tanya, as well as seven adoring grandchildren, Teddy, Gunnar, Olana, Scotty, Tess, Zamara and Sasha.
A devoted Catholic his entire life, Steven worked as a NY State correctional officer for over 25 years.
Always the life of the party, his warmth, honesty and wry sense of humor will be missed. Steven frequently speculated that when he arrived in Heaven, St. Peter would exclaim, "I recognize you! You're that handsome brute, Steven Himmel" and welcome him into Paradise.
A celebration of his life will be held at his beloved Kinderhook Lake home this summer.
